Malaysia and the Philippines exchanged notes and issued a communiqué reaffirming the Manila Accord as the framework for peaceful settlement of the Philippine claim to Sabah.

The framework was reaffirmed after Malaysia formed

The 1963 Accord was not only a pre-formation document. The later bilateral exchange reaffirmed it as a framework for peaceful settlement. This supplies evidence of the claim’s diplomatic continuation after Sabah had entered Malaysia.

Why this record matters

The 1966 notes reaffirmed the Manila Accord and the process for peacefully settling the Philippine claim after Sabah entered Malaysia.
