Sulu’s royal genealogies trace the dynasty to Abu Bakr and his marriage to Paramisuli, daughter of Raja Baginda. The Sultanate brought dynastic succession, Islamic law and the allegiance of local chiefs into a lasting political order centred at Sulu.
