The Sultan’s appointment in its original language
This document appoints Overbeck to office and specifies governmental powers. Although issued with the territorial grant, it performs a different function. The Jawi reproduction and Saleeby’s English reprint allow readers to follow that distinction.
Why this record matters
The Sultan appoints a ruler and delegates governmental powers through his own authority, in a commission separate from the territorial agreement.
