Source note
The book includes Sulu’s tarsilas and an account of the Sultanate’s origins at pp. 161–164. Chapter V, pp. 225–226 reproduces the English commission appointing Overbeck, attributed to George W. Davis’s 1902 report. The commission is a separate instrument from the territorial grant, which Saleeby describes as a cession. This reading copy is Saleeby’s published reprint.
